Ralph Edward Miller, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016.

A lifelong Delawarean, Ralph was born in Newark on June 24, 1934, and was a son of the late George Henry and Margaret Ellen (Trigg) Miller. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ralph made his career in the container industry where he worked as a mold setter, retiring after many years of dedicated employment.

Active in the volunteer fire community, he was a lifetime member of Cranston Heights Fire Company. Ralph was a talented woodworker who enjoyed crafting gifts for family and friends. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be very dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Mabel (Pawley) Miller; brother, William T. Miller; and sister, Betty Caudill. He is survived by his daughter, Zina Huber (Michael) of Bear, DE; grandchildren, Lena M. Huber of New Castle, DE, Michael K. Huber (Britny) of Newark, DE and William D. Huber of Bear, DE; and great grandchildren, Holly M. Huber, Kaylee E. Ellsworth and Bentley J. Huber.

A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2016, in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE, where interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ralph’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

  • While I didn’t know Mr. Miller very well, as an honorary member of Cranston Heights Fire Company and a military veteran, I was saddened to hear of his passing. Please accept my most sincere condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
