Richard Ernest Lindell, age 74, of Newark, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on April 11, 1944, he was a son of the late Ernest and Lillian (Cox) Lindell. Richard dedicated his career as a parts manager.

A true sports fan, Richard enjoyed playing golf and cheering on his beloved Penn State Nittany Lions and LA Dodgers. He had a passion for antique cars and enjoyed vacationing on the Outer Banks. Richard was a member of the St. Anthony’s Club and St. Gabriel’s Lodge in New Castle. He will be remembered as a very loving and caring father and grandfather with a huge heart.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his grandson, Scott Lindell. He is survived by his loving companion, Patti Leonard; children, Kenneth Lindell (Laura), Douglas Lindell (Carrie), Kevin Lindell (Lisa) and Kimberly Sampson (Sean); brother, Mark Lindell (Marcia); 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  • Uncle Rich was one of the greatest figures in my life. It hurt when I heard he had passed. I will miss him terribly.

  • Anyone could see that Rich was a good man. We chatted occasionally when he visited my neighbor, Pat Leonard. I can’t tell you the number of times I would see Rich doing yard work or other errands at Pat’s, with incredible gusto! Jim and I are very sad that Rich passed so suddenly and so soon.
