Richard F. Dresh, age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Richard was born in Wilmington on March 11, 1933, and was a son of the late Clifton A. and Frances (Lesniewska) Dresh. He made his career as a mechanic with Ed’s Auto and was later employed by Colonial Parking. Richard enjoyed working for both companies for many years prior to his retirement.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards with friends. Richard had a keen interest in antique miniature cars and loved adding to his collection. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and NASCAR fan. Above all else, he was a devoted and loving family man and will be very dearly missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by 5 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna M. (Shambow) Dresh; step children, Lisa Stapleford (Kenneth), Linda Piroli (Richard), Diane Murray and Lee Abraham (Becky); daughter, Connie Messick (Brian); sister, Margaret McElwee; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday morning, January 5, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), P.O. Box 6067, Stanton, DE 19804.
