Richard F. “Uncle Dick” Woodrow

Richard F. Uncle Dick Woodrow, age 80, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015.

Born in Hermon, NY on December 3, 1934, Dick was a son of the late Forrest and Berniece (Reed) Woodrow. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. Dick owned and operated Woodrow’s Towing for many years.

During his lifetime, he helped to raise several children, Tina, Michael and Michael Leger to name a few. Dick loved telling jokes and having a good time. He was a longtime member of Moose Lodge No. 1578 in New Castle and enjoyed playing both the guitar and piano. His most precious memory was time spent hunting with his grandson, Michael Leger. Dick led a full life and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene J. (Pescatore) Woodrow; grandson, Michael Leger; brother, Robert Woodrow; and sister, Alice Brown. Dick is survived by his aunt, Aggie Woodrow; cousin, Karen Pike (Francis Hank); uncle, Charles Biliski; favorite sister in law, Rose Rivers; caregivers, Gloria and Dave Halsey, who fondly called him Daddy Dick; niece, Tammy Woodrow; nephew, Terry Brown; and many additional nieces, nephews, cousins and family members. He was also survived by step grandchildren of Pam Edgerton.

A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday evening, December 9, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home of Wilmington Manor, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm. Interment will be private.
