Rita D. Watmuff

February 7, 1936 - December 2, 2016

Rita D. Watmuff, age 80, of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly, while surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 2, 2016.

Born in Renovo, PA on February 7, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John  and Dolores (Homan) O’Connor.  After graduating high school, Rita worked as a secretary for General Electric in Philadelphia, later staying home to raise her family. Devoted to her faith, Rita was a parishioner of Church of the Holy Child.

She enjoyed traveling and shopping at her two favorite stores, Kohl’s and Boscov’s.  Above all else, Rita was happiest when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Watmuff; sister, Jane Becker; and son-in-law, Randall McConnell.  Rita is survived by her children, Karen L. McConnell of Bear, Joseph M. Watmuff (Jocelyn) of Swan Lake, MT, and Kellyanne Balmer (Adrian) of Wilmington; sister, Patricia O’Connor of Primos, PA; granddaughters, Amanda and Ashley McConnell; great grandchildren; Marlee Tomko and Landon and Jayce McConnell, and her faithful, canine companion, Kobie.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 am on Wednesday morning, December 7, 2016, at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Ridge Road, Linwood, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.
