Robert A. Carlozzi

December 10, 1931 - May 23, 2018

Robert A. Carlozzi, age 86, loving father, dedicated patriot and devoted husband, died peacefully on May 23, 2018 at his home in Bear, Delaware.

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1931.  After graduating from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving 22 years and completing two tours of duty in Southeast Asia.  He was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  After settling in Delaware, Robert earned his associate’s degree from Goldey Beacom College.  For a time, Bob managed the 141 Cinema Theatre in Prices Corner.  He also worked for Take a Break, Conrail and W.L. Gore and Associates.  In 1980, he was recognized by the State of Delaware for his volunteer efforts on behalf of disabled workers.  In his retirement years, Bob enjoyed exploring the United States and visiting old friends throughout the world with his bride of 30 years.  When he wasn’t traveling, he was volunteering for organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the Armed Forces Retirement Home.  His good humor and positive outlook on life were an inspiration to many.  Bob’s perpetual grin and countless stories will be missed by all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and August Carlozzi; and his sister, Marjorie Watson.  He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Carlozzi; brother, Nicholas Carlozzi (Shirley) of Warrensville Heights, OH; his children, Steven Carlozzi of Bear, DE, Robert Carlozzi (AnnMarie) of Landenberg, PA, Anthony Carlozzi (Darlene) of Bear, DE, Michael Carlozzi (Patricia) of Wilmington, DE, Pam Malkin (Lee) of Newark, DE, Michelle Gatling (Tye) of Bear, DE and Mark Malkin (Maria) of Satellite Beach, FL; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Friends and family may call from 9:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am.  Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
