Robert C. Bob Rees, age 75, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, with his wife and daughter by his side.

A native Delawarean, Bob was born in Wilmington on October 19, 1939, and was a son of the late Thomas A. Rees, Sr. and Meriam E. (Auman) Rees. He was a member of the William Penn High School’s graduating class of 1957 where he was a standout member of the football team. A talented athlete, Bob would later play semi-pro football with the Delaware Clippers and was active on his company’s baseball team. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. Bob made his career as a day shift supervisor with the James River Company located in New Castle and retired after 35 years of dedicated service.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on all of the Philadelphia teams each season. He was an exceptional golfer who loved hitting the links at Porky Oliver’s with his buddies, The Sweeps. Above all else, Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert C. Rees, Jr. and 4 brothers. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Angeline (Poppitt) Rees; daughter, Jean Marie Rees-Staker (William) of Chesapeake City, MD; brothers, Harry Rees of Bear, DE and Frank Rees of New Castle, DE; sisters, Jane Goff of Newark, DE, Lillie Capodanno of Hockessin, DE and Mary Crossan of Rising Sun, MD; and 3 precious grandchildren, Brandan R., Amanda G. and Kyle M. Rees, whom he adored; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday morning, March 16, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to the American Lung Association, 630 Churchmans Road, Ste. 202, Newark, DE 19702.
