Robert Charles Hogenson, Ph.D., age 73, of Landenberg, PA, died on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at his home. Born in Kirksville, MO, on November 22, 1936, Dr. Hogenson was a son of the late Julius Lee Hogenson and Daisy Bell Hogenson. He earned his masters degree in piano performance from Louisiana State University and would go on to receive his doctorate in music theory and composition from Michigan State University, where he met his future wife, the former Evelyn Utting. A gifted educator and musician, Dr. Hogenson retired from the music department of the University of Delaware in 2000. In addition to his beloved wife of 47 years, Evelyn, he is survived by daughters, Jan Ellen Ballman (Paul) and Lynn Elise Hogenson (Rolf Anderson); brothers, Gilbert Hogenson (Bobbi) and Donald Hogenson (Betty); sister, Kathryn Young (Trey); and grandchildren, Matthew, Westin, Anne, Lauren, and Kyra. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church of Newark, 292 W. Main Street, Newark, DE.
