Leaving this world to soon, Robert F. Bob Hartis, 75, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016.

Born in Wilmington on June 4, 1941, Bob was the son of the late Clarence F. and Millie (Fuhr) Hartis. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1959, later serving his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Delaware Air National Guard. Bob retired in 2004 from Landmark Engineering as a senior chief designer after 16 years of dedicated service.

A proud member of St. Michael Council No. 4548 and Cardinal Gibbons Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, he served as State Deputy from 1990-91, also serving as Grand Knight, and District Deputy several times. Bob was also a member of the Pulaski Legion. He enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, hunting, woodworking, and photography.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Betty (Wykpisz) Hartis; children, Debbie (Vincent) and Robert II (Karen) all of Newark; grandchildren, Matthew, Shanon, and Maddie; sister, Barbara Paggi (John) of Wilmington; and many nieces, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces, many cousins, and his beloved dog, Mischief.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Seasons Hospice for their compassion and care, making their remaining time spent with Bob a little easier.

A visitation will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm on Sunday afternoon, October 30, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE 19711. A second visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon on Monday morning, October 31, 2016, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE 19713, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Ste. 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
