Robert J. Skorak
Mr. Robert J. Bob Skorak, age 77, of Dover, DE, formerly of New Castle and Delaware City, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011.
A native Delawarean, Bob was born in Wilmington on December 21, 1933. He made his career with the General Motors Corporation, retiring as an assembler from the Boxwood Road site after 30 years of service.
Bob was a talented bowler throughout his life and starred in league play for many years at Bowlerama, where he served for a time as league secretary and treasurer. An avid sports fan, he looked forward to cheering each season for his favorite team, the Eagles. He was a fan of the Sixers, Phillies, and Flyers, as well. Bob also enjoyed visits to local casinos.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Judith D. McVey Skorak; his daughter, Sarah C. McCandlish and her husband, Jeff, of Dover; two daughters from a previous marriage; and his grandsons, Justin and Ryan McCandlish. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah C. (Butler) Downey, and his brother, Stanley Skorak.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
