Mr. Thompson was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on May 27, 1944, son of the late Howard T. Thompson, Sr. and Ellen C. Tobin Thompson. He was a longtime member of UAW Local 435 and was employed with the General Motors Corporation, where he retired as a forklift operator after 32 years of service. Mr. Thompson was active in the New Castle Moose Lodge and also faithfully participated in many programs at the Cornerstone Senior Center every Thursday morning. In his leisure hours, he enjoyed playing bingo with friends and watching his favorite WWE wrestlers. Most of all, he delighted in spending time with his beloved family and was always at his happiest during large, joyous family gatherings with his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren around him.
