Robert L. Ennis, Jr., age 67, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Bob was born in Wilmington on March 29, 1948, and was a son of the late Robert L. Ennis Sr. and Kathryn L. (Rohrer) Ennis. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Bob made his career as a textile manager with New London Textile in Newark, DE.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he lived and breathed for his family. Bob looked forward to spending time at the family shore house in Wildwood, NJ and visiting Disney World with his loved ones. He adored family gatherings and could oftentimes be found in the kitchen cooking up a delicious meal to share. A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Bob enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams each season. He was an avid devotee of classic Western movies. Most of all, Bob will be remembered as a generous and caring gentleman and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Ann (Marley) Ennis; daughter, Vickey S. Mohler (Scott, Sr.) of Newark, DE; son, Robert L. Ennis III (Kerri) of Newark, DE; brothers, Roland Ennis of Bear, DE and Riter Ennis of Newark, DE; sisters, Linda Lamanna of South Carolina and Darlene Krieger of Newark, DE; and grandchildren, Scotty Jr., Brandon Tyler and Jocelyn Ann Mohler and Rylie Hope Ennis.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday afternoon, February 18, 2016, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 300 E. Basin Road, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.
