Robert L. Wiley, age 73, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2014.

Born in Kimball, WV on August 16, 1940, Bob was the son of the late Paul B. Wiley and Helen K. Coffey Edmanson. He was a member of the Newark High School graduating class of 1958. Bob proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. He made his career as a dispatcher with the former Leaseway Transportation in Wilmington, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.

Bob will be remembered for his tender heart and love of animals. He adored spending time with his family and looked forward to his monthly luncheons with his longtime high school classmates. Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara A. Rowe Wiley; daughter, Gina L. Marra (Mark) of Newark; and grandson, Steven Jamison.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.

  • I have wonderful memories of Bob and our high school days in Newark. He was fun and generous having lent me his beautiful, black convertible for my senior prom date in May of 1960. My condolences, Barbara.
