Robert M. Malone - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Robert M. Malone

Born September 22, 1935

Robert M. Malone, age 82, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017.

A lifelong Delawarean, Robert was born in Wilmington on September 22, 1935, and was the son of the late John L. and Wanda Malone. He proudly served his country as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard. Robert was employed as a foster care worker for the State of Maryland, and then in Human Resources for the DuPont Company, Havag Industries, and Hercules, Inc. While he spent most of his career in human resources, he found his work in the foster care system to be the most rewarding.

Robert was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Castle. He was an avid self-taught photographer, and especially loved being outdoors while photographing nature. He donated over 1000 pictures to the Delaware Historical Society, where many are displayed for visitors to enjoy. A train enthusiast, Robert was a member of several locomotive associations. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his annual trip to Ladies Lake in Medford, New Jersey, where he spent many happy hours with friends. Above all else, Robert was a devoted father, brother, and grandfather who will be lovingly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael S. Malone. Robert is survived by his children, Patrick L. Malone (Meredith Zeitler), Linda M. Malone, and Julieann Lorang (Peter); brother, Thomas Malone (Mary); sisters, Paula Sigafus and Mary Eileen Malone; and grandchildren, Andrew, Justin, and Kevin Malone and Angelique, Michael, and Nicholas Lorang.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where family and friends may gather from 11:00 am until 12 Noon. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
