Robert W. Borell, age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014.

Born in the Bronx, NY on June 5, 1930, Robert was the son of the late Dominick and Anna Borell. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. After completing his education at NYU, Robert made his career as a chemical engineer with the DuPont Company and would retire after 30 plus years of service.

An avid sports fan, he absolutely loved baseball. Robert shared this passion by giving of his time and talents as a youth coach to the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Newark for over 30 years. A devoted and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he adored spending time with his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Borell, second wife, Marian Borell, and son, Robert J. Borell. He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Pedicone of Newark; longtime companion, Sabre Saidon; sister, Dorothy Borell of Toms River, NJ; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.

A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday afternoon, October 2, 2014, at The Chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greater Newark Baseball League, Inc., P.O. Box 7212, Newark, DE 19714.
