Rose Mary Henson, age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015.

A native Delawarean and lifelong resident of New Castle, Rose Mary was born in Wilmington on August 18, 1932, and was a daughter of the late Reese and Lillian Thawley. She made her career as an administrative assistant with the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Delaware. Rose Mary loved her work and greatly enjoyed collaborating with a number of attorneys over the years. She retired in 1995 after 23 years of dedicated service.

Known for her outgoing personality and charismatic charm, Rose Mary could make anyone feel instantly at ease. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating, and it was at a local roller rink where she met her first husband, Hank. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time at home and visiting local attractions. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Holloway Terrace in New Castle where she was active in her congregation and strong in her Christian faith. Above all else, Rose Mary will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, sister and aunt and will be very dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin Hank Jamison and her daughter, Janie May Greggo. Rose Mary is survived by her husband of 20 years, Charles B. Henson; sister, Catherine Thawley; 4 nephews; 1 great nephew; and 1 great niece.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday afternoon, February 4, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Holloway Terrace, 308 West Avenue, New Castle, DE 19720.
