Ruth Ann Brooks, age 81, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Born in Elkton, MD on December 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Willard W. and Alice E. (Edmundson) Bryson. Ruth dedicated her life as a talented homemaker for her family.

Ruth enjoyed QVC shopping and was an avid Phillies fan. She enjoyed watching General Hospital, the Chew and The Price is Right. She loved her family, especially attending get togethers and hosting Christmas dinner. Ruth was a former member of the NC Moose Lodge and Asbury United Methodist Church. Above all, she was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence A. Brooks, Sr.; brother, Willard Bryson; and son in-law, Edward Austin. She is survived by her children, Karen Kolf (Stephen), Sue Austin, Clarence Brooks, Jr. (Clarise) and Alice Mullins (William); brother, Allen Bryson; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am until 1 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s honor to either AI DuPont Hospital for Children 1600 Rockland Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803 or St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
