Ruth Esther Fontello, age 75, of Elkton, MD and formerly of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 1, 2018.

Born on October 17, 1942 in Wilmington, DE, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Collins and Elizabeth (Megginson) Collins.

Ruth made her career as a bookkeeper with A&P, as well as, with the family business, Collins Enterprise, Inc.  After retirement from A & P, she remained close friends with all of her coworkers.  Dedicated to her faith, she was a longtime parishioner at Union United Methodist Church in Bear, DE.  Throughout her adult life, Ruth was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon, and Coca-Cola memorabilia collector.  Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially at the beach.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Marshall; and a brother, Richard M. Collins.  She is survived by a daughter, Kim Novello (Paul); her special granddaughter, Jules Novello; and long-time friend, Blue Duncan.  Ruth will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and a dear friend to many.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm on Monday, May 7, 2018 in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a funeral service will begin at 2 pm.  Interment will be held in the adjoining cemetery.
