Ruth H. Rinehart
Ruth H. Rinehart of Annandale, NJ passed away on April 6, 2013 at Seasons Hospice, Newark, DE, with her loving children by her bedside. A lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, NJ, she had been displaced by Superstorm Sandy and was living in Newark with one of her daughters.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ, on Feb. 1, 1924 to the late Albert and Mary Hagen, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years (Jack) in 2012 and her sisters, Alice Coleman and Betty Neilsen.
Ruth graduated from Flemington High School. During the war she was employed at an aircraft parts plant in Deal, NJ and at the Flemington Auction Market, before marrying her husband Jack in 1946. They built their home on the family farm where they raised their daughters and lived for 64 years.
She was a devoted and supportive wife and mother and loved being surrounded by her daughters and their husbands, Susan (Peter) Hender of Barnegat, NJ, and Kathleen (John) Paderson of Newark, DE.
She was particularly proud of and close to her grandsons and their wives, Matthew (Tracy) Hender of Marmora, NJ and Scott (Danielle) Hender of Annandale, NJ and thrilled to visit with her four great-grandchildren, Kara, Ryland, Morgan and Colby. Ruth is also survived by her sister, Barbara H. Wilson of Alexandria, VA and many nieces and nephews.
After many years of farming, Ruth and Jack found delight in traveling extensively, sometimes with farm organizations, and other times with family in their motor home. They took special pleasure in having their grandsons join them on their adventures.
A dedicated member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church for 66 years, Ruth taught young children in Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the Womens Association. She was also a member of the Clinton Womens Club and worked in girl scouting when her daughters were growing up. Ruth loved music, sang as a soloist and earlier in life was a member of a barbershop quartet. She was also an avid photographer and bird watcher and loved to cook for her family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Ruths life will be held at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 27th, at 1:30 p.m. The church is located at 2 Race St., Pittstown, NJ 08867. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the church. Donations to honor Ruths life and service may be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
