Samuel T. Riebel, Jr., age 78, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

Born on March 31, 1935 and raised in the Manyunk section of Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Riebel was a son of the late Samuel T. Riebel, Sr. and Catherine Horan Riebel. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps and was an honored veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Riebel made his career as a machinist in the 38 shop at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard and retired in 1996 after 20 years of dedicated service.

He was a longtime member of the Everlasting Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge #2 of Philadelphia. Active in the veteran’s community, he was a former commander of VFW Post #2117 and a member of the State Commander’s Association of New Jersey. Mr. Riebel also served as a past president of the Korean War Veterans of Delaware. An avid football fan, he was a diehard supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. Mr. Riebel was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Riebel. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sun O. Yang Riebel; children, Samuel Riebel (Emily) of San Diego, CA, David Riebel (Karen) of Mantua, NJ, Donald Riebel (Bobbielynn) of Bellmawr, NJ and Robert Riebel (Janah) of Centreville, VA; brother, Harvey Bud Riebel (Dawn) of Yorba Linda, CA; and 7 grandchildren.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
