Sara “Sally” Lowe Benedict

Born September 15, 1926

Sara Sally Lowe Benedict, age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, after complications from a stroke. She bravely struggled for more than three months to recuperate.
She was born the daughter of the late Harry Lowe and Ruth McNally Lowe, in Lancaster, PA, on September 15, 1926. Sally was a longtime member of Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Sally also spent much of her time knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She assisted her husband with their Charles Chip business for many years. Sally was beautiful inside and out with a kind and gentle manner. Spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Sally is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert B. Benedict; daughters and son-in-laws, Staci Truitt and husband, Wayne of Newark, DE, Peggy McFarland of Jefferson, ME, and Robin Jacyshyn and husband, Joe of Wilmington, DE; 6 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren who she dearly loved; and brothers, Harry Lowe and his wife, Jean of Marietta, PA and Bob Lowe of Lancaster, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Effie Musser.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Monday, December 2, 2013, at Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 West Church Road, Newark, where visitation will begin at 10 am until the time of service. Interment will be at 10 am on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Groffdale Mennonite Cemetery in Leola, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 West Church Road, Newark, DE 19711.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. I know you loved your wife and mom very much. I also know she loved all of you and her grandbabies very much. I love my Aunt Sally so much too. I’m so glad I had a chance to spend a little time with her in June 2012. She was so beautiful. She will be forever in your hearts and an angel on your shoulders. She will always be looking out for you with love. I hope to see you on Monday.
