Sarah J. Lanouette “Sally”

Sarah J. Lanouette, known fondly as Sally, age 83, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

A lifelong Delawarean, Sally was born in Wilmington on September 24, 1932, and was as a daughter of the late James and Clara (Dege) Breslin. She made her career as a secretary with Getty Oil, retiring after 34 years of dedicated service.

A devout Catholic, Sally was a longtime and active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Castle. She adored spending time with her family and especially loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Sally was a passionate supporter of animal rescue groups and opened her heart and home to many rescued pets over the years. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter, Patrick, James and Thomas. Sally is survived by her children, Paul F. Lanouette of New Castle, Brian J. Lanouette (Sherri) of New Castle, David B. Lanouette of Wilmington and Alicia M. Lanouette of Wilmington; sister, Elizabeth Whitfield of Wilmington; brothers, Charles Breslin of Rising Sun, MD and William Breslin of Smyrna; grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Jonathan and Brad; and great grandson, Jonathan, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 pm on Friday afternoon, March 11, 2016, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sally’s memory may be made to Willing Hearts Dalmatian Rescue, P.O. Box 11, Royersford, PA 19468 (www.whdr.org) or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Our Lady of Fatima Church at the address listed above.
