Scott Richard Raughley, Sr.
Mr. Scott Richard Raughley, Sr., age 48, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Scott was born in Wilmington on November 24, 1963, son of the late John D. Raughley, Sr. and Dolores Dee K. Oberly Raughley. He was a mechanic by profession and had been employed with Temple-Inland, Inc. (formerly Gaylord).
Scott was an avid motorcyclist throughout his life and an expert in both bike mechanics and lore. A talented tinkerer, he delighted in fixing anything in need of repair, both in his own home as well as for his grateful family and friends. He also collected a variety interesting items and rarely parted with his special treasures.
Well known for his warm and friendly disposition, Scott delighted in brightening the day of each person he met. He was a true and loving people person who accepted everyone as they are, without judgment or criticism.
He is survived by his children, Megan Sue Raughley and Scott Richard Raughley II; brothers, Tommy Raughley (Christy) and John David Raughley, Jr. (Lorraine); sister, Lilly West (Steve); granddaughter, Izabella Dee Raughley; girlfriend, Dori Barnes; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, October 18th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, were visitation will begin at 4 pm.
