Sean Michael Locke

August 6, 1994 - July 18, 2018

Sean Michael Locke, age 23, of Newark, DE, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

Born in Newark, DE on August 6, 1994, he was a son of Pamela (Reach) Diksa and Christopher Locke. Sean was a graduate of Mt. Aviat Academy in 2008, St. Mark’s High School in 2012 and a 2016 graduate of UD with a Bachelors in Business Administration and a minor in Sports Management. He was employed by Buccini/Pollin Group in their Commercial Real Estate Department.

Sean was an amazing person and though his life was short, he lived it to the fullest. He was a success in any endeavor he took on. Sean was a 7-time Little League All-Star, winning a State Championship for Elkton Little League. He was also part of the 2012 St. Mark’s State Championship baseball team. Sean was the first freshman in St. Mark’s history to start on the varsity basketball team and was one of the school’s all-time scorers. One of Sean’s proudest sports moments was with the UD basketball team as a member of the 2013-2014 CAA Conference Champions that played in March Madness.

A true friend to the community, Sean always gave back. He coached hundreds of kids, participated in food drives, participated with Blue/Gold Special Olympics and provided a helping hand to whoever needed it. Sean was an amazing son, devoted brother, beloved grandson and treasured friend. He displayed an unending love and joy to his family and friends. Everybody was always so happy when Sean entered a room.

Sean loved the beach, golfing with his friends, watching the Yankees, beating everyone at family game night and doing puzzles and football pools with his grandfather.

Sean was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ronald Locke and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Tina Reach. He is survived by his parents, Christopher (Norma) Locke of Newark and Pamela A. (Paul) Diksa of Newark; siblings, Kathryn (Nick) Locke-Jones of Baltimore, MD, Kevin Locke of Washington D.C., Haley Diksa and Hunter Diksa both of Salt Lake City, UT, Victor Anderson, Aedan Locke, Patricia Locke and Everett Brown, all of Newark; and paternal grandmother, Virginia Locke of Rehoboth Beach.

A visitation of family and friends will be held from 4 pm until 9 pm on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am the following morning, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Holy Family R.C. Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Oblate Sisters Cemetery, 399 Childs Road, Childs, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sean’s memory to the Mount Aviat Endowment Foundation, 399 Childs Road, Childs, MD 21916 or the St. Mark’s Scholarship Fund, 2501 Pike Creek Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.

  • My fondest memory of Sean is when he and Coby were in 3rd grade. I was in the classroom to tell Judy Baker that Coby had a bad fall and would not be in class that day. Sean immediately ran up to me, with a worried look, to ask if he was going to be OK. He never changed. He had such a loving heart. Words cannot express my sorrow.

  • Chris…..It is with a heavy heart that I write this. I know we had not crossed paths in many years until Alex and Megan’s open house. When I talked with you that day, it seemed like we were back at Central Middle or Newark High School. Words cannot describe my emotions and heart broken feelings that I am experiencing for you and your family. I have been and will continue to pray for you and your family with the hopes that someday, your memories will overpower the loss. May the Lord enter your heart and give you strength, comfort and a loving embrace. Please know you are not alone and if you need a friend, a shoulder, or just someone to talk with or share a prayer, I am here for you!
