Shirley Jean McCann
Ms. Shirley Jean McCann, age 77, of Bear, DE, formerly of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Ms. McCann was born in Wilmington on March 25, 1935, daughter of the late Lawrence MacLaren and Jennie McCracken MacLaren. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and enjoyed a varied and interesting career, working for Tri-State Business Machines for seven years, Matthews Hallmark for nine years, and in office administration for Construction Unlimited for 12 years, retiring in 2003.
She volunteered with Suburban Little League in New Castle for many years and was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed knitting lovely presents for family and friends and going bowling. She was an avid Phillies fan throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen McCann. She is survived by her daughter, Debbi Cammock (James) of Bear; son, Park McCann III (Janine) of New Castle; sister, Elizabeth Scott of Bear; brother, Lawrence MacLaren (Arlene) of Wilmington; half-brother, H. Francis Balascio (Carol) of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters-in-law, Patty Fulton, Nancy McCann, and Betty Larrimore; and seven grandchildren, Kelly, Michael, Jamie, Jimmy, Alexis, Gina, and Jesse.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Lombardy Cemetery, Concord Pike, Wilmington.
