Stephen L. Casson, Jr. - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Stephen L. Casson, Jr.

Born September 18, 1972

Stephen L. Casson, Jr., age 43, of Lincoln, DE, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Milford Memorial Hospital.

A lifelong Delawarean, Stephen was born in Dover on September 18, 1972, and was the son of Stephen L. Casson, Sr. and the late Linda E. Hornberger. He made his career as a construction and iron worker. Stephen was known for his strong work ethic and hardworking demeanor.

Well known for his outgoing and engaging personality, he never knew a stranger. Stephen possessed the unique ability to talk with anyone and make them feel instantly comfortable and at ease. When someone needed help, he would willingly give the shirt off his back or offer his assistance without a second thought. Stephen’s big heart was undeniable and he could often be seen helping someone rebuild their car engine, lending money, working for free or helping the elderly or disabled.

When off work and relaxing, he looked forward to spending time with his brother-in-law and best friend, David and nephew, Tyler. The trio loved fishing, deer hunting and watching NASCAR, drag racing and football together. An avid muscle car fan, Stephen was a Nova enthusiast and he enjoyed attending car shows whenever he could.

At his core, he was a devoted family man. Stephen would often talk about how much he loved his children and nephew and his pride in each of their accomplishments. He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first grandchild, Ronan and was so excited to be a grandfather.

Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Linda. He is survived by his father, Stephen L Casson, Sr.; daughter, Chrystal Casson; son, Brandon Casson; sister, Heather Beutler, brother-in-law, David and nephew, Tyler, with whom he lived; and grandson, Ronan who is due to arrive this December.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Sunday morning, September 4, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.

  • Stephen was a great friend, we lived across from each other in an apartment complex in 1984. Unfortunately, he had to move after we both had an incident with some local thugs and I never got to tell him goodbye. I moved back South eventually but I still tell Stephen stories from time to time about the day the gang got after us two seventh graders and he locked me out of his apartment and I had to run to the nearby sandpit to get away from them. I figured I’d look him up after all these years, sad to see that he passed away. My sincerest condolences.
