Stephen V. Packard
Mr. Stephen V. Packard, age 66, of Newark, DE, died on Thursday, June 10, 2010.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 22, 1943 and raised in Lansdale, PA, Mr. Packard was the son of the late Nedra (Hauger) and Harold Packard. He was a graduate of North Penn High School, where he starred on the track & field and cross country teams, and would go on to earn his bachelors degree in wood science from Penn State University. He made his professional career as a manager with the FMC Corporation, working for over 30 years at the Newark, DE site before his retirement.
An avid and knowledgeable outdoorsman, Mr. Packard greatly enjoyed visits to his cabin in rural Lycoming County, PA. He was a longtime member of the Otter Run Fish & Game Club and an active volunteer with both Tri-State Bird Rescue and the Delaware State Park system. Most of all, he was a devoted family man who delighted in spending time with his beloved daughters and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Kara Packard of Newark, DE; daughter, Erica Packard Archibald and her husband, David K. Jr., of Newark, DE; and grandchildren, Holly P. Firlein and David K. Archibald III.
Visitation will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm on Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Family and friends will be invited to share memories of Mr. Packard following the visitation. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Wildwood Cemetery, 1151 Cemetery Street, Williamsport, PA.
