Stevie Cunha

July 1, 1943 –¬†October 22, 2013

Mrs. Stevie Cunha, age 70, of Townsend, DE, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2013.
Born in Leesburg, Florida on July 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jack Irwin and Louise Huffman Irwin. Mrs. Cunha worked for a time at the Delaware State College and then went on to make her career as a registered nurse for Astra Zeneca, retiring after 15 years of dedicated service.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother figure to many, she was beloved by all she met. Her home was always open to those in need. A lover of animals, she cared for them and none that came to her attention went hungry or without a home.
Above all else, she loved and adored her children and grandchildren and was happiest in their company.
Mrs. Cunha is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph A. Cunha; children, Lisa Karbhari and husband, Vistasp of Arlington, TX and Joseph A. Cunha, Jr. and wife, Holly of Townsend, DE; sister, Sandra Jasmanki of Leesburg, FL; and 3 grandchildren, Sydnee, Riley, and Zachary Cunha.
A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Friday evening, October 25, 2013 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where friends may call from 5 pm until 6 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be sent to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Goodbye is too hard to say Stevie, you will be missed. Sylvia and I have been reminiscing about all the good times we had playing “pianie”, singing Christmas carols, and all the other crazy adventures we had over the years. I’ll never see another flowering tree in Springtime and not think of you. We have our own angel now. I wish you peace and happiness because no one deserved it more or looked for it for herself less. Love always Marian.

Lisa, I was sorry to hear about your mom in an email from Kirsti this morning. Having lost my own mother (Kirsti’s Grandma Bee) a couple of years ago, I know you will miss her greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Well, I only knew you for forty years… would have thought that would have been enough…wish we could have forty more. You were a best friend, confidant, personal nurse, singing partner (neither of us very good), and many other things I can’t even remember. I don’t think anyone could have laughed more than when we were together. I will miss you greatly!!!!! Now let’s hear that great oldie… The Twelve Days of Christmas, again & again! You know the kids in the back seat love it when we sing! Sylvia

    Dear Lisa,
I was sorry to read about the passing of your mom. What a great lady she was. I have fond memories of her from our college days. She had a great smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She could always make us laugh. Such good times we had at the little house on Amstel Avenue.

Blessings to you and your family!
