Sue M. (Celano) DeLapo

Born November 1, 1915

Sue M. (Celano) DeLapo, longtime resident of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital. She was 100 years young.

Born in Wilmington on November 1, 1915, Mrs. DeLapo was a daughter of the late Anthony and Nancy Celano. She dedicated her life to raising her family. Mrs. DeLapo enjoyed the ocean and the Jersey Shore. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. DeLapo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel DeLapo. She is survived by her children, Angelo A. DeLapo, Sr. (Loretta), Florine I. Rosauri and Ann M. Kokoszka (Edward); sister, Nancy DiVirgillo; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.

  • So sorry to here about the loss of such a wonderful, Mom grandmother, great grandmother. The memories will always be with each and everyone of you. God Bless Aunt Sue.

  • My heartfelt condolences to the DeLapo family. I did not know Sue personally but I understand how hard a time like this can be. May our Heavenly Father, who is the God of all comfort, give you the strength and comfort that you need (2 Corinthians 1:3). Our Heavenly Father understands your pain because he too has experienced the death of his beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Just as God resurrected his Son, he yearns to resurrect our loved ones as well (Job 14:14,15). I hope these words give you the comfort and peace you need during this difficult time.

  • To Joe and Family…Again, so sorry to hear of GrandMoms passing. Remember her well from the days I worked with Joe at the Retro. Such a cute, funny and loving person. Her family was her world and it showed when ever she was with them. Bless you all and prayers for her eternal peace. Rest in Peace and bless her whole family.
