Theresa M. (Halcisak) McMaster, age 86, a resident of Penn Acres in New Castle, DE, passed away to eternal life on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on June 14, 1929, Theresa was a daughter of the late Michael Halcisak and Anna (Dinis) Halcisak. She was a graduate of the Coughlin High School class of 1947. Until her retirement in 1985, Theresa was employed by the Social Security Administration in Wilkes-Barre, Wilmington, DE and Elkton, MD.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in New Castle, where she was a member of the sodality and enjoyed participating in church activities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Cecelia Halcisak, Mary Maleski and Anna Kollesar; brothers, Stephen Halcisak and Joseph Halcisak; and most recently, by her husband, John G. McMaster, with whom at the time of his passing in 2013, together enjoyed 62 years of married life. Theresa is survived by her brother, William Halcisak of Ocean City, MD; several nieces and nephews; cousins, John and Pauline Dinis of Wilkes-Barre, PA; and sister in law, Mary Ann Halcisak of Drums, PA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Thursday morning, August 6, 2015, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Our Lady of Fatima Church, at the address listed above.

  • I would like to offer my sincere Condolences, to the entire family. When we loose a loved one in death, Gods own word the Holy Bible offers the best comfort. Please read in yours John 6:39,40 ; Psalms 83:18

  • Theresa was a member of the Weston Senior Center in New Castle since July of 1985. She participated in many of our activities, and most recently spent time here with Gina Lawruk. I know she missed Jack but still carried on without him. So sorry for your loss.

  • Theresa was a wonderful, kind lady. As a past neighbor of hers, living across the street for 25+ years, I can tell you she was a caring, giving woman who always reached out to everyone in need. She will be remembered as such a lady. My family will miss her dearly.

  • I worked with Theresa at the Wilmington Social Security Office for 10 years. She was always willing to offer help on the job. I remember Theresa submitting many suggestions to the office and being rewarded for them. We trained together as Service Representatives and had many good laughs. She was always a joy to be around. So sorry for your loss.
