Thomas Christopher Sammons, known fondly as “Tommy,” age 48, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

A lifelong Delawarean, Tommy was born in Wilmington on August 25, 1966, and was a son of the late Roger F. Sammons and Theresa M. (Brown) Sammons. He worked at various jobs throughout his life.

He was an avid sports fan, but especially loved wrestling and football and adored the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tommy will be long remembered as a strong and courageous young man who faced much adversity in life, but remained an example of hope and optimism to others. He was a loving brother and uncle and will be sadly missed by his devoted family.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sisters, Elaine Kozlowski and Maryann Mitchell and brothers, Richard and Gerald E. Sammons. He is survived by his siblings, Kathleen Garcia (Thomas) of Middletown, Roger B. Sammons (Maxine) of Brandon, MN, Timothy Sammons (Kathleen) of New Castle, Patricia Pribish (James) of New Castle; brother-in-law, George Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of both the Mary Campbell Center and Seasons Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Tommy.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday morning, June 25, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tommy’s name may be made to the Mary Campbell Center, 4641 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803.
