Thomas P. Shelton

Thomas P. Shelton, age 44, of Dover, DE passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on March 6, 1970, Tom was a son of Ronald Shelton and Lena Palmer Gilkey. He made his career as a manager in the food service industry.

Tom was an avid country music and Phillies fan. He enjoyed restoring furniture, woodworking, and doing yard work. He also liked working on and taking rides in his Jeep. Anyone who knew Tom understood his love for a cold Pepsi served in a can. He will be greatly missed by his partners in crime who always tried to get him to play Call of Duty on PS3 while Melissa was working. Above all else, he was a devoted and loving husband and stepfather who adored spending time with his family. Tom’s family is especially proud that his decision to be a Gift of Life donor will be a lasting legacy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald, step father, Edward Gilkey, and aunts, Andrea Parodi and Cheryl Ledden. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa Goodwin Shelton; step daughter, Hailie Sheinhartz; brother, Richard Shelton (Amy) of Wilmington, DE; maternal grandmother, Ruth Palmer; nieces, Hayley and Brianna; many aunts and uncles; and extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 145 Taylors Bridge Road, Townsend, DE 19734. Burial will be private.
