Valerie J. (Dodge) Arcuri, age 72, of Newark, left this world on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

Born in Ilion, NY, on September 2, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Wilson Kane Dodge and Beatrice (Tanner) Dodge Keida. Valerie was a loving mother and an avid supporter of the family. She was active in her local parish and worked monthly at the local soup kitchen as well as involved in many additional parish activities. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her step-father, Anthony Keida. She is survived by her husband, Kevin M. Arcuri of 52 years; her three daughters, Lisa, Elaine, and Janet; three grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa, and Kevin; siblings, Beverly Dodge, Arthur Dodge, Dale Keida (Angela); 13 nieces and nephews; one uncle, Kenneth Dodge; and one, Aunt Shirley Dodge.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Saint Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, 19702, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, July 23, 2018, at West Schuyler Cemetery, 238 Newport Road, Utica, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Valerie requested donations be sent to St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church Building Fund at the address listed above.

  • I am so very sad to hear this. Val was a dear friend for fifty years. We shared many joys and tears together. She and Kevin were there for me in my darkest time. I can honestly say she was one of the best and most authentic people I have ever known. She was completely devoted to Kevin, her girls and her beautiful grandchildren. My deepest condolences to Kevin and all of the family. This earth is truly lessened by her passing.
