Virginia Ann (Deming) Finner, age 85, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 20, 2017.

Virginia was born in Wilmington, DE on March 22, 1932 where she resided in Delaware City. She was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Maden) Deming. Virginia worked for many doctor offices throughout her career as a medical receptionist. After retirement, she spent 20 years in Oceanview, DE where she enjoyed caring for her daughter, Lynn. Virginia enjoyed reading, puzzles, shopping, and collecting shells on the beach. For the last several years, she resided in Millsboro, DE with her grandson, James, with whom she had a special relationship with, and his family, Elissa, James, Jr. and Aaron.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Finner, Sr.; daughters, Jacqueline and Virginia L. Finner; and son, James M. Finner, Jr. She is survived by her children, Wesley D., Richard E., and Patricia A. Finner; sister, Jacquelyn Price; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to offer their sincere thanks to Nancy Mowrey, RN with Season’s Hospice for her kind heart and compassionate care of Virginia.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday evening, December 8, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 7 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses in care of Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, at the address listed above.
