Virginia “Lynn” Finner

Born April 28, 1951

Virginia Lynn Finner, age 62, of Delmar, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.
Born and raised in Delaware City, DE, on April 28, 1951, she was the daughter of James M. Finner Sr. and Virginia Deming Finner. She attended Delaware City schools and made her career at the Delaware State Hospital. She also opened her heart and home to care for family members.
An artistic person by nature, Lynn loved painting ceramics and crocheting blankets to give to family and friends. She will be remembered as a generous and kindhearted individual who did her best to help anyone in need. Above all else, Lynn loved and adored her family, and will be deeply missed.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, James M. Finner, Jr. and her sister, Jacquelyn A. Finner. She is survived by her mother, Virginia; daughters, Sara A. Finner and Nancy Rae; son, Brian M. Finner (Maria); sister, Patricia A. Finner; brothers, Richard E. Finner and Wesley David Finner; aunt, Jacqueline Price; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Baby Jackson, whom she considered her grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to help the family defray funeral costs may be made to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.

  • Aunt Ginny, Patty, Ricky, David, Sara, Nancy and Brian – I am saddened by Lynn’s passing. She devoted her entire life to caring for and about others, and I for one will be forever grateful that she was a part of my family. She’s and angel in heaven now where Grandmom and Grandpop will take care of her.

  • having lost touch with lynn over the years i had been thinking of her and wanted to reconnect and laugh over some old times spent together…..sadly i didnt get that chance, i am so very sorry to hear of her passing…RIP old friend and know that you will live in our memories forever..my condolences to the family.

    I just want to convey my Deepest Sympathy for the loss of Lynnie. She was and always will be a very Special Person. I have very fond memories of Lynnie when she lived up the street from me and she babysat Tammie and Valerie. We became very good friends and she had a heart of gold. I consider myself one of the Lucky people who had the pleasure of calling her my friend. She will be greatly missed. Cherish all the fond memories you have of her because I know I will.
