November 10, 1928 - December 5, 2017

Virginia M. Smith, age 89,  of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

Born in Chester County, PA on November 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Sudie (Sheeler) Moses. Virginia worked as a cashier for Winterthur Museum for many years.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed golfing at Delcastle, playing bingo, and crocheting afghans for just about everyone she knew. Virginia will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert C. Smith. Virginia is survived by her children, Marla Bowlin, Barry Smith (Candace), and Deanna Fitzpatrick (Joseph); brother, Willis Moses; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday morning, December 8, 2017, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
