Walter A. Marusa
Mr. Walter A. Marusa, age 88, of New Castle, DE, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Wilmington Hospital.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Marusa was born in Wilmington on August 6, 1922, son of the late Boleslaw Marusa and Julie Zebrowski Marusa. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II and earned his bachelors degree in engineering from the University of Delaware. He would go on to make his career as an engineer with DelDOT until his retirement.
Mr. Marusa was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Hedwigs R.C. Church and St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church. He was also a longtime member of the Pulaski Legion in Wilmington. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed playing poker with friends, taking trips to Atlantic City, and cheering for his favorite team, the Eagles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Zennon Marusa, Chaz Marusa, Mary Curlett, and Catherine Pantalino. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Marusa, and many devoted nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at St. Hedwigs R.C. Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington.
