Born September 12, 1920

Walter E. Street, age 93, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014.

Born in Kennett Square, PA on September 12, 1920, Walter was the son of the late Silas B. Street, Jr. and Anna Armstrong Street. He bravely served in the US Navy as an airplane gunner during WWII. Walter worked as a pipefitter and was a lifetime member of the pipefitter’s union. He was a wonderful poet and writer. Walter will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Street, who passed away in 1992. Walter is survived by his current wife, Margaret Sullivan-Street; daughter, Judy Ward; son-in-law, Jim Ward; step-daughter, Kathleen Dolbow; and his grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where friends may call from 12 Noon until 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

  • We were so sorry to hear of Walters passing, we feel so privileged to have known Walter even for such a short time of his life. It is so great that he lived a long and healthy life, we would watch him walk the dog ,Mitsy down the lane he seemed to enjoy life to the fullest.
