Walter Earl Tubbs

January 8, 1913 – August 17, 2016

Walter Earl Tubbs, age 103, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 after a brief stay in the Seasons Hospice Unit at Christiana Hospital.

Born in Chester, PA on January 8, 1913, Mr. Tubbs was the son of the late William M. and Bessie (Deputy) Tubbs.  He was married to Mildred Edna Smith-Tubbs on June 1, 1938 until her death on September 9, 1989 and together they shared 51 years.

A man of strong faith, Mr. Tubbs was a 1937 graduate of Central Bible Institute, located in Springfield, Missouri.  A former member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Wilmington, he loved studying Bible prophecy and wrote many articles on the subject.  Mr. Tubbs relished a good game of dominos or checkers with everyone who came to visit him.  He had a great time with the hospice aides and especially enjoyed visits with his family.

In addition to his parents and wife Mildred, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James Smenkowski.  Mr. Tubbs is survived by his only daughter, Carolyn Tubbs-Smenkowski; grandson, Stephen Smenkowski and his wife, Paula; granddaughter, Judy Smenkowski-Weeks and her husband, Jim; great grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Maureen and Austin Smenkowski and Kristen, Michelle and Heather Weeks; and was so very proud to have a great great grandson, Nolan.

Services and interment will be held privately at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
