Warren E. Hachtel

July 29, 1928 - September 22, 2018


Warren E. Hachtel, age 90, of Newark, DE and formerly of West Grove, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018.

Born in College Point, NY on July 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Frederick and Louise (Steller) Hachtel, Sr. Warren formerly worked for Simes Lighting Company in College Point, NY for 18 years. He was the lighting project manager for the World’s Fair in New York from 1964 ““ 1965. He retired from DuPont Company as a purchasing agent in 1989 after 17 dedicated years.

Warren was an avid gardener and traveler. As a young man he built a TV and repaired time pieces and always enjoyed tinkering. Warren enjoyed landscape painting and was very talented.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his loving wife, Adele K. Hachtel and siblings, Frederick Hachtel, Jr., Gerald Hachtel and Lorraine Oakes. He is survived by his children, John E. Hachtel (Jane Angelone) of Rochester, MN and Jayne L. Hachtel (Deborah Smith) of Elkton; sister, Rose Buesker (Henry) of Elkton; granddaughter, Joanna Hachtel of Chaska, MN; nieces and nephews, Kathy Berlinski (Howard), Fred Hachtel (Linda), Pattie Lockhart (Bob), Thomas Hachtel (Christina), Louise and Lorraine Oakes, Nancy Fehn and Jack Fehn (Heather); and great nephew, Harrison Fehn.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11:30 am. Entombment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Warren’s memory to the Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ocheltree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
