William “Bill” Roberts

Mr. William Bill Roberts, age 77, of Newark, DE, died on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Christiana Hospital in Newark.

Born in Williamsburg, PA, on October 4, 1933, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Harry D. Roberts and Ruth Kensinger Roberts. He was a 1954 graduate of Williamson Trade School in Media, PA. He was employed with the NVF Company in Yorklyn, DE, retiring as the maintenance supervisor after a 39-year career.

Mr. Roberts was a longtime member of White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, where he was active with many church committees and ministries over the years. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed gardening around his home and cheering for his favorite teams: the Eagles, Penn State, and the University of Delaware.

A devoted family man, he delighted in spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be long remembered for his compassionate spirit and willingness to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joann G. Bumgardner Roberts; daughter, Karla Roberts Hughes (Jeffrey C.) of Garnet Valley, PA; son, Kevin W. Roberts (Marjorie) of Marathon, FL; brothers, Fred Roberts (Helen) of Media, PA, and Donald Roberts of Williamsburg, PA; and grandchildren, Ashley Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Courtney Hughes, Morgan Roberts, and Bryce Roberts.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 28th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 29th, at White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE, where a second visitation will be held from 10 am to 10:45 am. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
