William D. Butch Lloyd, age 73, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, November 27, 2014.

Butch was born in Wilmington, Delaware on September 4, 1941 and was a son of the late Woodrow Lloyd and Elizabeth Jamison Lloyd. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, bravely serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. A talented welder by trade, Butch worked in the industry for many years until his retirement.

He enjoyed playing shuffleboard with friends at the Police and Fire Rod and Gun Club in New Castle. In his leisure time, Butch liked fishing, playing horseshoes and watching his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers. His happiest moments were spent in the company of his beloved family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brothers, David, Franklin and George. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Catharine J. (Leon) Lloyd; children, Thomas Lloyd and wife Dolores, Michelle E. Williams and David P. Lloyd; sisters, Suzanne Ludlum, Irene Mickey Hurd, Mary Blanchfield and Nancy Webster; 5 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday morning, December 4, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

    I offer you my sorrow in hearing of Uncle Butch’s passing. I have many fond memories of him at the Rod & Gun Club and he had a large circle of friends. He always offered a smile and hand shake when he saw his friends. I will keep him in my prayers. May he rest in peace.
