William E. Wilson, Sr.

Mr. William E. Wilson, Sr., age 87, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013.
Born in Bula, WV, on May 2, 1926, Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Leasure Wilson and Louie Wright Wilson. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. In civilian life, he made his career as a master pipefitter with Union Local 74, where he was a member for 65 years.
Mr. Wilson was a longtime member of the American Legion. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed trout fishing, golfing, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice M. Walker Wilson, in 2005. He is survived by his son, William E. Wilson, Jr. (Jacqueline) of Middletown; daughter, Lou Ann (Polite) Wilson of New Castle; brother, James B. Wilson of Parkersburg, WV; sister, Betty Ann Robbins of Searcy, AR; grandchildren, Billy Wilson, Mark Wilson (Ilene), Devon Crampton (Steven), Kenny Polite, Jr. and Stacie Polite; and great grandson, Ethan Johnston.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff of Christiana Care 6A and of Seasons Hospice for their many kindnesses to Mr. Wilson during his illness.
Funeral services will be held privately with burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
