William Francis Lewis, Sr.

Born October 6, 1937

William Francis Lewis, Sr., known fondly as Lumpy, age 77, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, October 5, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Bill was born in Wilmington on October 6, 1937, and was a son of the late Leroy Lewis and Mae (Morris) Lewis. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Randolph until his honorable discharge. Bill made his career with Asbestos Workers Local #42, retiring after 28 years of dedicated service.

Active in his community, he was a member of the Police, Fire, Rod and Gun Club, St. Anthony’s Club and St. Gabe’s Club. An avid golfer, Bill was a former member of the Sakima Country Club in Carney’s Point, NJ. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking in his leisure time. Above all else, Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be very dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Lewis, Jr. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years and 10 months, Kathryn Jeanne (Roach) Lewis; children, Victoria Novello (Richard), William F. Lewis, Jr. (Toni Moore), Kelly Tomczak (Anthony) and Christopher Lewis (Bonnie); siblings, Howard Lewis (Katherine), Priscilla Snelling and Lil Marchiani (Henry); grandchildren, Michael Marciano (Tracy), Richard Novello, Jr., Anthony Ball (April), Kassey Novello, Kristen Nepi, Brooke Lewis, Christopher McElwee, Taylor Lewis, Troy Tomczak, Paige Tomczak, Alyssa Novello, Brett Tomczak, Emily Lewis, Morgan Lewis and William Bud Lewis; great grandchildren, Jordan Marciano, Abby Biggs, Bella Jester, Michaela Witt, Nate Witt, Gia Maniscalco, Abby Ball and Allie Ball; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday morning, October 13, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
