William H. Potter, Jr.

William H. Potter, Jr., age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilmington, DE on February 14, 1932, he was a son of the late William H. and Margaret (Biddle) Potter, Sr.  William served in the US Army and later dedicated his career with Chrysler, 1183 Union, as an inspector.

He loved to be outdoors, whether he was deep sea fishing for trout or just working in his garden.  He adored his family, was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle and enjoyed activities at the Weston Senior Center.  Above all, he was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; and sister, Carol.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Dorothy Jean (Dove) Potter; children, Richard, Stanley, Billy, Deborah, Jack, Emma and Charlotte; step-daughter, Donna; sister, Nancy Berry; grandchildren, Paulie, Harry, Bennett and Adrianna; step-grandchildren, John, Jordan, Tifany and Ashley; and great-granddaughter, Danielle.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
