William W. Stephens
Mr. William W. Bill Stephens, age 72, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Stephens was born in Wilmington on May 15, 1939, son of the late Wally Stephens and Sis Press Stephens. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and later, in civilian life, made his career as a lab technician for the DuPont Company at the Experimental Station, where he retired after over 30 years of service.
An expert in antique glassware, he maintained an interesting and unique collection of vintage bottles and glass items for many years.
Mr. Stephens was devoted to his family throughout his life and will be long remembered as a beloved father and proud grandfather. He is survived by his children, Alecia K. Stephens of Ardmore, PA, and Jeremy B. Stephens (Karen) of Avondale, PA; sister, Barbara Smith (Pete Pearson) of Ocean View; and grandchildren, Harry Barth, Caroline Barth, Christopher Barth, and Isabella Stephens.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at St. Pauls R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in New St. Pauls Cemetery, Delaware City.
