Wilma Josephine Chambers
Mrs. Wilma Josephine Chambers, age 94, a resident of Newark, DE, for 55 years, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at her home.
Born in Gladesville, WV, on January 22, 1916, Mrs. Chambers was a daughter of the late William B. Price and Ruth E. Martin Price. She received her bachelors degree in education from Salem (WV) College and began her career as an educator in her native state. After moving to Delaware, she taught mathematics in Milton and in the Newark school system. She would go on to chair the mathematics department at Christiana High School, where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Chambers, whom she met in college. She is survived by her sisters, Freeda M. Apgar (Robert H.) and Jean P. Hall (James L.); nieces and nephews, William H. Apgar, Christine Ullmer, Jeffrey L. Hall, and Debra L. Calpouzos; ten great nieces and nephews; and a great great niece.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am.
