Mr. Woodrow W. Waldron, age 88, of New Castle, DE, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Heartland Hospice House in Wilmington, DE. Born in Tazewell, VA, on April 24, 1922, Mr. Waldron was the son of the late Augustus Waldron and Bertha Altizer Waldron. He proudly served his country during World War II as a master sergeant in the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. In civilian life, he made his career with the DuPont Company, where he worked in the pigments division for over 30 years as an operator and, later, a senior supervisor. An avid and knowledgeable outdoorsman, Mr. Waldron greatly enjoyed hunting throughout his life. He was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. His beloved wife of 53 years, Gladys I. Helmandollar Waldron, died in 2001. He is survived by his son, Harold Kenneth Scott (Marie) of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Geraldine Jeri Linkous (Jack) of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Rebecca, Deborah, and Michael; great grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Kayla, Alex, Rachel, Ryan, and Julia; brother, A.Y. Waldron, and sister, Isabel Sargent, both of Tazewell, VA. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in memory of Mr. Waldron be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 1842 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE 19702; or Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
