Abigail Lee “Abby” Manuel
June 21, 1980 - September 26, 2021
Abigail Lee “Abby” Manuel, age 41, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 26, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wilmington, DE on June 21, 1980, she was a daughter of Larry Lee and Linda Lee (Fox) Manuel. Abby was a 1998 graduate of Padua Academy and held several positions in the banking industry. She loved spending time with her niece and nephew, shopping, watching crime-based television shows, and making people laugh. Abby’s gift to the world was her ability to make people feel special. Whether it was a funny story or a hilariously exaggerated recount of events, she loved to be able to put a smile on someone’s face. Abby loved dogs and was enjoying the company of her puppy, Theo, who patiently waited to sit in her lap and cover her with kisses.
Abby was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene and Gwendolyn Manuel and Francis and Florence Fox. She is survived by her parents, Larry and Linda Manuel of Bear; sister, Laura L. Manuel Patton (Jay) of Fenwick Island; niece and nephew, Brooke Lee Patton and Andrew “AJ” Patton, both of Fenwick Island; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Abby’s memory to an organization Abby was fond of and supported, Delaware SPCA, 455 Stanton-Christiana Road, Newark, DE, 19713 or to The Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037-1830.
