Albert J. “Al” Kott, Sr.

Albert J. “Al” Kott, Sr., age 88, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021.

Born in Forest City, PA on March 1, 1933, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Morris) Kott. Al proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a Good Conduct medal. He then worked as a union carpenter for over 30 yrs. An avid outdoorsman, Al could often be found fishing, hunting, boating or camping. He also enjoyed tending to his garden. When he wasn’t spending time outside, Al loved watching the Green Bay Packers, old movies and TV shows. He loved going out to eat and playing with his pets, Daisy and Kimchi. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Hogan) Kott; and brother, Joseph Kott. He is survived by his children, Donna Hammond (Theodore) of New Castle and Albert J. Kott, Jr. of Elkton, MD; brothers, William Kott and Raymond Kott (Patricia) both of PA; and granddaughter, Grace.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 5 pm. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 3, 2021 in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
